Default Seagate D.A.V.E.

Any gettin the D.A.V.E when it comes out? It looks like it has great potenial. I carry two 250GB USB harddrives with me everyday, so I can have my music and movies when I want them. But I will gladly pay $200 bucks for this. Your thoughts?

Add 20GB of storage to the Q with Seagate D.A.V.E.

Not satisfied with the 2GB MiniSD card in your Moto Q? A portable hard drive on steroids, Seagate's new D.A.V.E. system connects over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to a mobile phone. Easily pocketable, the battery powered drive streams music, movies, and other files directly to a mobile phone. This is a neat solution, and this product could easily be stowed away out of sight in your bag or backback, easily accessed wirelessly when you need larger files. Evidently, the drive won't be sold directly from Seagate and will be marketed via phone manufacturers and wireless carriers. I just wish they would graft in a tv tuner with a programmable tv guide feature - that way I could grab it off the shelf in the morning and it would be charged and loaded with last nights TV shows.

Announced features include:
  • 10GB or 20GB capacities
  • 802.11g, Bluetooth 2.0, USB

Neat idea, would make a great portable storage medium if it had Bluetooth and USB alone, 802.11g would just be gravy, then every computer at the office could send me files wirelessly...

I believe I'm leaning towards this one, BluOnyx, and it appears to be available in 40GB size.

Not sure. I already submitted my pre-order info some time back, but have received no updates yet. Just waiting to see now. Definitely want one.

It's got added features, since you can use a memory card with it as well. Like I said, I carry 2ea. 250GB harddrives with me wherever I go. Storge is a big thing for me. It can get a little heavy at times. I was getting ready to buy a 160GB Western Digital Passport Drive or a SimpleTech 160 USB portible drive. But now I will wait for one of these.

I wish I could get a MP3 player bigger than 80GB. My iPod only has 30GB and that's a drag.

Really sounds like a breakout device. But it remains to be seen whether it actually works.
