Mini SDIO WiFi Card - Motorola Q Forum

Quick question- I know some of you have had good luck, and others with bad luck on the SDIO WiFi Card for the Q9's. I just wanted to get one place where people could offer the two following things:
1) How well it works, if it does- i.e. reliable, etc.
2) Cheapest place to get one based on your searches (I search all the time, and I have no idea where all of you find these 1,000,000 GB Mini SD Cards for $2 and free shipping- ok, so that's a little exaggerated, but you know what I mean)

Sorry if one of the mods think this is a repeat or stupid thread, but I think it's a fair ask.

Just ordered mine yesterday. Cost was 39.34 out the door to me with standard shipping. Ordered it from GPSNow but through Amazon.com (was more expensive on GPSNow's website). Should get here Monday, Ill post back with my thoughts on it then.

The card did arrive today. So far so good but let me spend 24hours with it and test it about abit.

Well if you ask me, I think the Wifi card isn't worth it. I'd rather have a storage card than a wifi card that sticks out. I've got a friend with a T-Mobile HTC handset and her wifi speeds are comparable to my EVDO speeds. It depends on your needs though... I would take EVDO over Wifi anyday though.

Dude, the purpose of the Wifi card is for times when I don't have coverage. For instance- I was overseas with my family 3 weeks ago, and VZW doesn't have coverage. Even if they did, it'd be wicked expensive, so it would have been nice to have had a Wi-Fi card given there are hot spots everywhere these days, not to mention my family has Wireless in their homes, so I could have pulled up my email and used Skype via the Wi-Fi, which would have saved me from having to find a computer to use at my family's house, etc.

Long story short-I'd like it for when I go to places that don't have coverage, and out of the country, etc., but you are right... EVDO has sick speeds up and down.

Sorry I havent had time to test it as much as I would like to (ranges, speed, and power drain). I did turn the phone service off and use it on my network at home the first night. I didnt bother with the drivers on the CD, just downloaded the ones from the Spectec website. It seems peppy and while I will be keeping my broadband package for a bit, I think it was a good investment for the money.

As long as you dont get one DOA and you have times when you need it(sounds like you do) I cant see how you can go wrong with one. Honestly since there is only one company making them I thought it was a good idea to get one before there are no companies making them......

Oh and Im using a Q9m

on anyone who has used the SDIO Wi-Fi card, does it allow you full access to your Pocket Outlook accounts (i.e. when I have Wi-fi connected will it let me hit the send/ receive button and it'll work)? Also, do you get full Internet Explorer access?

Yes, I have mine set up with my works exchange server (sshhhh) and it worked fine.
