another miniSD thread... 2GB card not working

I've read just about every past miniSD card on this forum, but none have been very conclusive.

I just bought a SanDisk 2GB card off eBay (it looks legit, then again it could be a good fake) that works fine in the adapter in my laptop's built in slot and my USB card reader, but no matter what I do, no dice in the brand new black Q. I've formatted the card at least 20 times, FAT and FAT32, power cycled the Q over and over, including taking out the battery between cycles. The card is definitely in all the way; I hear and feel a nice, satisfying click.

I've tried this card in my Q as well as a friend's Q, and neither recognized the card (no beep, no update in memory manager etc.). I've also used it with the adapter in an SD digital camera, where it worked rather poorly (slow write time and several errors if I tried taking pictures really fast).

I can't imagine what the problem is, unless my friend and I were able to walk away with two brand new Q's, both with lemon card slots. I'm guessing the card is fake, but that still doesn't explain why it works in the supplied adapter and not in any miniSD devices. I will try the card in another Q tomorrow, but unfortunately I don't have another miniSD card to test in any of the phones.

Your help and suggestions are appreciated...

I bought the same card off of ebay and did all the things that you have done too but i just think certain sandisk cards just dont work with the phone. Fortunately i was able to buy a 2gb Kingston card from fry's electronics for 17 bucks. I popped it in and it worked like a charm. Just email the seller and ask can you send the card back for a refund because it didnt work in your device and hopefully the seller will be as understanding mines was.

I just bought a Kingston 2gb from Fry's as well and mine will not fit in my SD slot. I also tried to do it on another phone and it wouldn't work. It says it for pretty much for everything on the packaging. What is the deal with that?

Did you buy a regular 2 gb SD card or did you buy the mini SD card? If you bought the regular SD card it wont fit. Only the mini SD cards fit into the phone. Hope this helps.

Oh great, that's probably what is was....wonder if they'll let me exchange it

The same thing happened to me too. The San Disk works ok for everything else, just not my Q. I bought a Kensington or something and it works like a champ. Im going to move up to a 4gb soon anyways.
