Default FAT32 Support

I just checked my 2 GB SD and MiniSD cards on Windows, and they're both formatted as FAT. Unless some come formatted as FAT32, somebody would have to reformat their card to see if the Q supported FAT32. Why would anybody do that other than curiosity?

not a very good asumption really, as the makers of pocketdos may simply not have put in fat32?
That's true. They may not have even anticipated larger memory cards.

If you really want to try it, take a MiniSD card and format it as FAT32 on Windows (after backing the card up to disk, of course). If it doesn't work, then we'll know the Q doesn't support FAT32 (even though WM 5 can).

Of course, if you somehow mess up that memory card, don't blame me.

OK, so the simple answer is that you cannot use a 4G card in the Q at this time?

You can't use 4 GB SDHC cards now. I've heard of some people using 4 GB MiniSD cards formatted as FAT 32, but make sure you can return the card if it doesn't work.

Informative Got MiniSDHC 4GB

I went ahead and bought a 4GB card as soon as I saw one available - not being smart enough to know any better. Interesting experience. My Q has had no trouble seeing it, and Windows Vista sees it -- though I did have to use an XP machine to copy my data from my old 2 GB card to the 4 GB card. Vista kept choking copying my backup to the new card.

I can copy music and video to the card, all my applications run just fine. BUT, neither Media Player nor Yahoo Music Jukebox see the card at all. I subscribe to Y! Unlimited and like to try out new music on the Q before buying CDs or iTunes copies, so I'm a bit disappointed that I don't appear to be able to do this on the bigger card.

On the other hand, I sure like having the extra space. I've got several tv shows and a movie or two as well as all my apps and data and still have more than a gig of available space.

Default Possible Success

I haven't tried it myself, but some users have reported success using a 4 GB MiniSD card from MemorySuppliers.

I've never dealt with that company, so I can't vouch for them, but others seem to be happy.

I ordered a 4GB card today from MemorySuppliers. They say it should work. I'll let you know if you're willing to wait a few days.

I just bought a 4gb from eBay. Samsung Memory but the chip is sold under the brand Top Ram. It wasn't SDHC or anything like that so I think it should work.....I'll post a follow up. Only paid $72 with shipping.

That's an SDHC (High Capacity) card and is almost guaranteed not to work.
