Before reading this thread, I ordered a 4GB sdcard off of ebay, and luckily, it worked when I plugged it in.
I have noticed some unreliable performance issues though.
To add a layer of complexity I am a linux user.
First, I let the Q format the card, I wasn't given filesystem option, so it just went with its default fat16 I assume... And it worked fine for a while. I pulled the card out, threw it in my desktop and copied some files over... all good.
Then about a week later, I went to search for some mp3s I had on the card... and it prompted to format again. I checked in the desktop to see if it was flipping out or not... and behold.. the card was hosed.
So I reformatted it, copied my stuff back over and whatnot..
Then this morning, I threw the card in my desktop and tried to copy some movies over to it and... it mounted as read only.
I checked to see if the lock was engaged and it was not...
Searching in the log files I found this:
FAT: Filesystem panic (dev sda5)
fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 111177867)
so.. as we speak I'm running an fsck.vfat -ta /dev/sda5 (scandisk) on it to mark any bad sectors.
I could have got a bum card, or support for it could be flakey.
I'll see if this clears up the weird issues and report when I have more information.
