There may also be the correct amount of rings on the jack and still this problem, that is because the manufacturer is putting l/r/mic in different places then what the Q wants. I had a bunch of people complaining about it as well as experienced it with a Sony headset I got at B.Buy. I recommend returning, and looking for Motorola on the package, 3 rings and then ask to try before you buy. Frys is good like that. |

| Ok,
Radioshack has a 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm adapter, with the 3 rings. Now, assuming that the rings are in correct order, and it's compatible with my Q, what exactly does the 3rd ring do?
That is, besdes being able to hookup regular heaphones (fm transmitter, etc) and listen, what benefit does this hold?.
I am debating on whether or not to get this, or to get a 2.5mm stereo set with built in mic...
Thanks,
matt! |

Thanks,
matt! | 3 conductors rings = 4 contact areas which is good for stereo headset or head set and microphone.

or should i just get a usb headphone set for it? | I have a Radio Shack 2.5 --> 3.5 adaptor and it did the same thing. I know it is a half-ass solution, but I wanted to use my BOSE headphones, so I found if you pull the jack out 1 notch, you will get stereo.
Just a thought...
