I checked with Motorola. The Q doesn't support audio out through the USB.

The OEM Motorola 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter has stereo audio coming out at full volume. It shouldn't cost you more than $10.

as many before me said in various threads... you can get one of those 2,5mm -> 3,5mm at RadioShack.
