I have one of the 1st Qs that came out from Verizon. I want the latest software on it and some hacks/mods.

Do you live in AZ near Scottsdale? I am willing to pay you for your time as I am not educated in this and I don't want to ruin my phone.

what do you want to do with the Q? Most "mods" can be done fairly easy and with little bloodshed

I want to install the latest OS. I have the extended battery and it barely lasts 24 hours.

you can not upgrade the OS for the Q
you have the OS that you phone came with and thats it

I would rather do this but I don't understand some of the terminoligy plus I am on Windows Vista-I saw some place that I can't do some things while running Vista. I don't have a lot of time to sit infront of the computer.

you really dont need a PC to do hacks...just a registry editor on your Q and know how to read

just follow the instructions in the hack threads
also registry editors or listed for downloading in those very hack threads

take your time and read up as much as possible, it's hard to ruin a Q, it can easly be reset back to original condition.

OK, I mean update the software for the OS. I think there is 2 maybe 3 newer versions now. Can I update straight to the 3rd newest or do I have to do it in order?

if you run the motorola software updater, it will update to the highest level.

I have found only a very few things that I would need a pc for, everything else I do on the Q
