you need a wifi card...plain and simple if you want to use your Q with a wifi connection
there is no other way
thanks N99 and Paco.
I installed them, even Sprint Nav. none of them works.
GM reports no satellite. I tried it outdoor. no help.
Is that possible my phone's gps chip/function is broken?
Thanks you all!

with google maps open the program, press the right soft key and select options > gps settings
under "my location settings"
"set by windows" should be checked
in live search: once again press the right soft key and select options
the second field should be set to "gps intermediate driver"
I believe that sprint nav has to be enabled on your plan (since it is a pay service) Which (i believe) is done under the business tools on your sprint account website.

This afternoon, I master reset my phone. then only installed wls, gm and sprint nav.
gm: set by windows. no satellite was found.
wls: gpsid. keep getting gps position. no further response.
Sprint Nav: report too weak satellite signal.

I went to a Sprint store. they told me I have to have data plan included in my plan to use gps function. I don't think so. GPS signal has nothing to do with cellular network, right?

For those whose GM/WLS runs correctly, do you all have data plan?

I had the same thing happen with Gmaps. But I found that it happened while I was driving and I had the phone on my lap. Putting the phone on the dashboard so it had a clear view of the sky helped it and a connection was made. I remember from my recent days as a verizon customer ( glad to be done with them , BTW ) that their Navigator feature worked extremely fast... but it was aided by cell towers helping locate my position. Gmaps wouldn't work with their phones as they keep the GPS tied into their Navigator program which nets another 9.99 month in the pockets of verizon. The Q9h has a true GPS chip and doesn't require cell towers to make a connection, but it may not be as fast when initially locating you.

Once located, I found the connection stayed robust and was very accurate using Gmaps.

aGPS is still technically true GPS. The phone does receive satellite signal directly, it is just aided in which satellites to look for by the assistance servers. this is why it's faster than the Q9h (and also why my Q9c's GPS does stop working when I go inside) the phone cannot store a large amount of ephemeris (orbit) data for all 24 active satellites so that's most of where the assist comes in.
The Q9h does require cell service (for programs other than the ones from garmin copilot and tomtom) to download the maps.
