It does work but you have to pay $10 a month.

I'm not familiar with Google maps or WLS. Do these work similar to the garmin?

I think so but since I am vzw which is locked out to ANYTHING but their pay service (which is the hack people are trying to do in this thread) I couldn't tell you with certainty maybe you should try an at&t thread you will def get more accurate info. :-) c

I looked into Garmin a little while back and they had a software/GPS receiver hardware package for about $150. My understanding is that you can't use a non-Garmin GPS receiver with their software unless you install using a "hack."

Using a GPS receiver with Google Maps gives you a fairly good work-around. I got my GPS receiver for about $70 a month ago but my friend tells me that they go for about $80-$90 these days. Google Maps is free.

I just ordered the Garmin Mobil XT yesterday, I will find out soon enough if it works. I tried the google maps and it might be ok for navigating thru a city, but i don't think it would be very good for a long trip. Thanks for the input.]

moving forward can we keep this thread with the title? Verizon Q9c GPS

if you have another carrier and are curious about software for your device try to find a thread on that particular software or start a new thread

Verizon GPS is locked and since other carriers are unlocked it can get kind of confusing for someone new to see these last few posts discussing otherwise

thanks
