I'm sure it's a similar problem to the HTC phones, the HTC phones have available source though and people have the info they need to develop for it. | In this very forum is where I found my information, I read every single one(im not kidding lol) of the Bisxcuit's threads and thats what led me to believe that VZW uses aGPS(i think his threads stop on page 14). Ive been wrong before *shrugs*

| the Q9c (no matter which carrier it's from) has an aGPS chipset (which does include an actual GPS receiver) aGPS doesn't get all the location information from the towers. all they do is speed up the fix, and fill in any fragmentary data.

| Hey guys I'm new to the forum here and have been following this thread for about a month waiting to see if someone could crack this..
Anyways, if you can tell me exactly what files I need to get, how to get them, and the exact registry entries we need, I can get all of it from a Sprint Q9c that's still running WM6.0. I'm new to this phone also, so I will need as detailed instructions as I can get.
The guy who sits two cubes away from me has said I can grab any files or registry settings I need off his sprint phone...
So, lets get this done already! |

| GPS hacked on WM 6.1 on vx6800 - is the Q next? Over at XDA forums, someone has written a custom driver that "DECODES" the Verizon GPS. From what I understand, the GPS on the VX6800 w/ 6.1 function, but are outputting the data in an encrypted format (prior posts in this thread indicated that there appear to be decryption calls with the driver on the Q9c too).
Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424387
The solution for the 6800 is to put a custom driver that transcodes the encrypted output from the GPS for Google Maps etc. to use. By putting the custom driver in the Google map directory, it will use that driver. Or there are steps you can take to replace the driver in the \windows directory so that all the apps will use it.
I've tried the steps on my Q9m flash to Q9c 6.1 but it didnt' work. Maybe someone with a Q9c w/ 6.1 wants to try? At any rate, this seems a step in the right direction!!!!

Both didn't change in any of the error messages/not doing anything. Basically same as before. |
