Did you do the profile version or the threshold version of the hack?

For the profile version, see TreeFrog's post a couple posts above yours. For the threshold version, see the 1st page of the thread.

i tried the thresholds thing and my Q would "hang" everytime it goes on standby. this could only be remedied by removing the battery. strange though that my Q turns itself on automatically when i re insert the battery. tried the profile type hack and it consumed around 1 bar in 1 hour, and i felt that my Q was warmer then room temperature.

these hacks are not really a big loss for me though because i tried running some programs with the hacks and i did not see any changes. anyone know the reason behind this?

I've tried both methods from the top of this post, a few weeks with each one to fully "test" out the results. Either works as intended but both have drawbacks. The Profile change would cause occasional lock ups and drain the battery in about one day. The Threshold change would drain the battery in about a day and a half but otherwise works great. I use the OEM 1640mAh extended battery and get 2 days out of it usually with corporate email and lots of sling player.

Going back to no hack for the CPU speed for a while, see if I like it better or not.

Can't avoid the battery issues with this hack. Just gotta remember to keep it charged (plug it in every night). I think you'll find that your Q is too slow once you've gotten used to this hack.

If feel like an idiot here but I made the change and did not write down what the default setting is. The hack worked but my battery life stinks now.
I want to change it back. What is the default setting?

Change the value in Key "ProfileType" to 0.

Forces the CPU to 314 MHz. Survives a reboot fine. My guess is that IPM is a driver Motorola uses to control hardware power settings, and this directs the driver to stop CPU scaling, thereby defaulting the CPU to it's normal state of full power.

I was not satisfied with the auto CPU scaling so I poked around and eventually made this change. This area will also allow you to tweak the scaling threshold values if that is what you are into.

This edit, combined with changing the shell memory value to 96, and keeping a clean install are the only speed tweaks I use.
