 |  Mobile Gmaps on the q9c mgmaps is a Java application that can load maps from several different providers. The main selling point for me was that you could download and store the maps ahead of time to avoid data charges. I've loaded high res maps of my entire state, and low res maps of the rest of the country. It's a very very cool application. Setting it up is pretty easy, they walk you through it here: http://www.mgmaps.com/winset/ There is only one outstanding problem - mgmaps kind of sucks when run under jbed. They recommend IBM's WEME. | similar but java free is gpsVP. Download maps from google, windows live or garmin on your pc and transfer to Q.

| This sounds great. I'm interested in just using the maps until the folks on the GPS hack thread figure out how to activate the GPS on the Verizon Q9C  . I looked on google's site, and it was unclear how one could download maps. Can you be more specific on how that is done? In other words, if I install gmaps, can I manually navigate downloaded maps kind of like a fancy paper map so to speak. If so, how do you download specific maps? Thanks for the info. |

| hit me up if you want to do it with gpsVP...it just involves cacheing the maps to your pc and then moving them to Q. |
