What?

Don't you have to edit the registry to get custom mp3's as ring tones, or is there a way you don't have to?

This is how I do it, and it's fairly simple.

Open the registry editor (duh)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sounds - scroll to the bottom, open AllSounds and Ringtones.

Those are the values/keys for the ring tone list.

Just add the mp3/midi, etc, to windows directory, and rename to something simple, then add that to the list's (keys/values)

I put lazy town - wake up as my alarm clock. Song is a very annoying little kid song - excellent for an alarm ;)

OMG thats the longest way to do it..lol

just put the mp3 in the \application data\sounds folder on the Q or in the root directory of the SD card then you can select them for each contact or in each profile
no need to edit the registry

pretty much just how i explained it
if you want a contact to have there own ringtone then edit the contact on the Q and you can scroll to the bottom where you pick the ringtone and as long as they are in either of the folders i mentioned they will show up on the ringtone list

and same goes for editing a profile
start--settings--profiles then the right soft key 'menu' then 'edit' and you can pick the ringtone per profile

nope... i probably would if i had to but a copy to the correct directory does the trick, as Scott kind of explains, nothing spectacular.. heck it is even described in the new user guide and in the FAQ.. doesn't get more simpler then that :}
