Edit shortcuts in homescreen plugins?

I get how this works by editing the xml but I have another question. I was just organizing my start menu into folders and now my messaging and voice recognition buttons dont work. Would I need to edit the registry to repair this? Another thing I'd like to know is if there is anyway to change the order of the icons in the start menu. Thanks !
