Display Timeout on Car Charger??

Can someone direct me to a FAQ or simple solution to the problem of having the display window light turn off after a short time span when the Q is charging on the car charger?

I can get the display screen light to go off when it is connected to the AC charger, and the USB cable on the computer, but it won't go off ever when I plug it into the car charger. This is a problem as it creates a beacon of light in the car at night. So far my only solution is to place a dark baseball cap over it to black it out.

Any solutions very welcomed!
