Default data/voice at the same time...?

k, I looked around a bit and didn't see it, if I missed it please just link or ignore don't flame, lol...

k, I recently god a Q9m (verizon) and have the data plan so I use the internet a lot... last night I went to make a call and it kept failing... went ti the wireless manager thing and phone states data connection...

I don't mind dropping the internet to use the phone but this requies me to close a bunch of apps, etc...

so is there a hack to get aroud this??

thanks and great site!

To my understanding once you're done with a phone call the data connection will resume and most apps usually go back to what they were doing without too many issues. From my past experiences that data and voice connections are mutually exclusive so if you're using one you can't simultaneously use the other. That of course doesn't mean you can't receive voice calls while surfing - the priority is the voice connection and that will cut into the data connection. That indicator under the phone heading in wireless manager screen (that you mentioned in your post) doesn't mean that you don't have voice connection - it's just an indicator that you are currently connected to the data connection. If, while in wireless manager, you select under Menu - disconnect cellular data - you will see that the indicator simply says on and it will eventually re-establish data transfer. To check if you have reception (the vital component to voice calls) you need to check the antennae icon with the bars. So to summarize I don't believe that your voice call error had anything to do with the data connection as this is usually managed by the phone very well. It could just be a phone glitch or spotty reception or some random event.

I definitely agree with this one...

I'm still getting used to this phone, has a 6700 for a while, but that thing was so flakey, I was lucky if I could go a day without multiple soft resets.

So far the Q9m has been a very solid phone... I just installed Facade, and starting to tinker with the looks, etc... So far I think it's a far superior phone!!

Thanks,

-Corey
