Default Changing the Verizon Startup/shutdown

First off I'd like to thank everyone for all the helpful discussions that have me well on my way to full customization. However, I do have one thing that I haven't been able to find a difinitive answer to.

I want to change the black verizon screen on startup and the blueish on on shutdown. I have found teh file of which I thought were them (startupvz.jpg) and (16_Carrier_shutdown_131.jpg) but it still does not work. Any idea? Has anyone ever successfully changed these?

you have to use either total commander or resco editor to overwrite the ROM files...you cant use the standard file manager it wont let you

Well I sucessfully overwrote those files and have rebooted many times. I've sucessfully changed all the splash screens for calling and info as well as the windows startup and shutdown and replaced the start up animation.

I still can't get the initial verizon to change nor can i get the terminal one too. Is a soft reset different from rebooting?

i figured -without having it done myself since i go weeks with out restarting- it was an easy hack, seems to be more involved w/ very little result unless you power-down and power-up the phone a number of times a day.

Did you do the registry hack to point to other image files for startup and shutdown? If so, they only tell you about 3, but there's 4 in the registry. Two for startup, 2 for shutdown.

Hope this makes sense.
