Default *HACK* Change GPS Accuracy in WM6.1 Registry

I noticed since WM6.1 upgrade, my GPS programs haven't been as accurate as with WM6, also there is no longer an option to change the option in GPS Settings. However, I found the string in the registry to change accuracy in the registry while editing the entries after a master reset.

HKLM/Software/Motorola/GPS

D-Word="Accuracy"
Default Value="256"

Change this to whatever you like.

*After posting this thread I realized this may belong in the Hack Section.

So how do we know know what to change it to? Lower or higher? What does the number mean or represent?

if it's the same as it was in WM6 it's meters. just did some testing, and it seems to be more accurate with the lower numbers (always go with your hunch)

Its how accurate the GPS tracks your location. It is measured in meters. So by default itll be within 256 meters of your actual location. The lower your number the more accurate your location.

For example, when you use your gps software on your phone.. it may say .12 mi to next turn when your already at the turn. This setting will make it more accurate.

sorry just trying to make sure you understand what its for.

...yes because thats the default. Make it lower to make your gps tracking more accurate. The trade off for greater accuracy is the longer time gps takes to find you.
