Default Boost Pocket IE speed 10X times

Ok, as some of you may know, when IE loads a page separate connections are made for the images and various other content. The more connections IE has to do this, the faster a page will load.

While poking around on my MotoQ's registry, I noticed that the Maxmimum connections to a server were set to 4. Which explains why pages such as YouTube and other sites heavy with media load so very slow.

Well, here is a fix, set your maximum connections to 50 (I set mine to 150 just in case, ) using this registry setting.

Set HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings\

change the key
MaxConnectionsPerServer from 4 to 50

I noticed at least a tenfold boost in page loading speed. I'm kinda lucky here, In San Antonio, on EVDO, I am getting a solid 780kbps - 1 MB, thats right, 1 Megabit. (1079 kbps). So you tube loads as fast on my mobile phone as they are on my desktop.

Enjoy!

You need to download a registry editor... PHM Registry Editor has been working great for me. Once installed on your Q, you will be able to explore the directories in your registry and edit files within them. (Keys and Values) I wouldn't recommend browsing directories and editing the files if you don't know what you're doing, though.

How can you test your speed with the Q? What site do you go to?

This was a response to a PM. Hopefully this will help some of you out.

Go to this link and download the smartphone edition. Once you install it on your phone, it's fairly simple to use. You'll find it in your start menu (on the Q) and you just open it up and it will list (or should at least) 4 folders:

HKEY_Classes_ROOT
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
HKEY_USERS

... and for the tutorial for making the pocket internet explorer faster you would go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER and just follow the instructions in the thread. If you can't figure it out, just say so and I'll try to make the instructions a little more in depth as far as how to use PHM Registry Editor.

PHM Registry Editor:

Not too sure. I can browse the actual site fine, and even get as far as opening WMPlayer 5, but once it begins to load the actual video I get an error that doesn't allow it to play. If that's when you get your error, then I'm in the same boat as you. I haven't cared enough to read the thread in the Moto Q forum on YouTube access, but I'm sure that if you browse through that (I believe it's stickied) you will find the answers you're looking for.
