Default Android

Well.

The android source was released today.

http://source.android.com/

Any bets on if the q9c will ever see it?

I know one of their dev platforms was ARM-based and had a QVGA screen and full QWERTY. But I kinda doubt we'll ever see it on this phone.

Who knows though. maybe someone out there needs a nice big project?

I'm sure someone who is knowledgeable could probably use the source code to make a MotoQ distro. Give it time and I'm sure it will come.

I think Android is gonna change "everything".
It's only a matter of time, if the phones can support the required resourcesn and we'll see a lot of ports.
It doesn't take one it could be a community project.

While waiting for my ROM to dump I started dreaming of cool stuff that could be done, none that I could do, so I started Google searching.

Android is already being ported to a number of phones and then there's THIS (:

Before we get to excited. It's an Android "emulator" for testing programs.
Cool it's on a Q though.

If someone does end up porting android to the Q then that will extend the life of my Q in my mind, cause I was thinking of replacing it when my upgrade rolled around in 2 months.

don't wait for it.
It'll take longer than two months.
The HTCs will see it first for sure.

Cool it's on a Q though.
Worse than that, Its running through VNC. so best case scenario it's unavoidably laggy, can't make calls, and requires your PC to be on at all times.

basically it comes down to which phones have users that _want_ it, and have the drive to make it happen. I agree that the HTCs will get it first, assuming we get it at all.

Motorola has all those developers that they hired to work on porting android, but I doubt they'll be working on porting it to anything but new phones. I guess we'll see how it plays out.
