As for #1, I have Facade which allows me to put my calendar right on my screen. Example:

#2, You can hit A or P to switch from AM to PM. Not sure if you have a bad phone on that one.

#3 confuses me. It's a Qwerty keyboard, how much easier is it supposed to be? IS that referring to entering info on the calendar, email? or a particular software itself?

#4. Yep, agree with you there. I'd like to have a copy and paste ability. THere is software I can purchase to accomplish that though.

#5, you can adjust the time out in Start > Settings > Power Management.

#6, Yep I agree with you there.

Now, one of your arguements you're about to discuss, is that you don't want to purchase extra software you think should be included with the phone. I'd like that too, but I would rather have my own choice of which software I want to install as opposed to the software that is dictated to me. I chose Facade because it enhances the functions I need. There are other more robust calendar/function improvers but they weren't right for me.

There are multiple IM programs out there, but I wanted the one that was right for me, instead of one that MS decided to install.

And I certainly disagree with your description of the Q being a Dumb Phone.
Alright, I tried your recommendation regarding modifying the time out and here is what I see:

After Start > Settings > Power Management I get the following options:

Main Battery (Display)
Backlight timeout on batter
Backlight timeout on AC
Display Timeout
Smart Backlight

I've adjusted each of these settings and none seem to have an effect on the timing of closing inactive programs.

I'm not referencing the screen turning off, I'm talking about a situation in which I might access the calendar, and then have to think about what exactly I want to put in the calendar, and in the elapsed time the phone decides I'm wasting its time and closes the calendar but leaves the screen on... this takes me back to the home screen.

Granted, if I access the Calendar immediately after this happens it will take me back to the view I was so rudely booted from, but I should've never been booted in the first place.

In terms of a defective unit, perhaps, or perhaps not. Maybe its a update that has been installed on the newer 9m's because my fiancee who I bought the same phone for has all the exact same issues.

You need to go to Start-->Settings-->Homescreen and set Timeout to Never.

How do you like that. With the amount of Times I've accessed the "homescreen" section of my Q, I've never even seen that.

I forgot to mention that for some reason my Q decided to stop accepting any mini-USB connections.

I don't mean its not recognizing the cable.

I mean it will not receive the cable. Not the cable that came with it, or the alternative cable I got to go with it.

How in the world, can a phone be designed so poorly in that it will not work with technology intended specifically for it?

Anybody else experienced this problem?

Nice mike, nice...
Honestly, I've never had that problem. I'm (was, occasionally now) still using the cable that came with my Q1. I was using it for a few months on my Q9c, then I got a BT adapter for my PC ( no cables to worry about)
