Tying together SDIO card and email pull

I currently don't have any email set up on my q9m but use gmail. I don't wanna have my email pushed, as I don't have data plan. BUT I will be getting th esdio wifi card very soon, and wondering if there was a way i could automatically have my email pulled from gmail (sans browser, formally adding my GMAIL account to the q) only when i connect my wifi card. Thanks!

You should be able to just set it up to check mail manually, so you would have to click Send/Receive in order for it to check your account.

when you setup your email accounts dont set it to automatically send/recieve every X amount of time

so when you are not on wifi it wont use your carriers data
set it for never so you have to manaully hit send/receive so you only use it when you are wifi

i put it on manual but it is is still using evdo, even with card in and connected. any solutions?

does it say EV on the screen or is it actually using it?

for sure using it, I see the logo that looks like a Motorola Q, and the back and forth arrows that signify data

Back and forth arrows don't mean data is being transferred - just that your Q is ready to send/receive data

Data transfer is indicated when the PDA icon pops up (where the crosshairs normally are)
