Isn't that the exact opposite of what you asked before?

I don't know about the Q 9m, but to get Internet passthrough to work on my original Q I had to make sure ActiveSync on the Q knew that my PC was connected to the Internet. It's buried pretty well, too.
  1. Start the Connections settings applet.
  2. Press the Menu softkey.
  3. Choose the Advanced menu item.
  4. Press the Menu softkey.
  5. Choose the Options menu item.
  6. Ensure the My desktop connects to option is set to The Internet.
That's what got it working for me.

Steve

I tried to set the "My desktop connects to option" to the different option and it still trys to connect to the internet on my PC.

If I go into the active sync program file > connection settings > and uncheck Allow USB connections it allows me to connect to the internet through my phone and not my PC.

That's because I was answering Proto's question, not yours.

That's probably true, but I suspect that you won't be able to sync or transfer files to the Q, either (unless you use Bluetooth).

In any case, why do you want to do this? Doesn't your PC have an Internet connection?

I'm trying to get my Q to connect to the internet using my PCs connection and I can't get it to work...its never worked ever since I got my Q. I checked this setting and it does say The Internet already.

Any other ideas?

Check ActiveSync's Connection Settings dialog (in the File menu) on your PC. Ensure the This computer is connected to setting is set to The Internet, too.

If that doesn't work, try changing the settings on both the PC and the Q to Automatic, then to Work Network if it still doesn't work. Play around with them -- it may depend on how your PC is configured, and we don't know your configuration.

Another thing to try is changing the Enable advanced network functionality setting in the USB to PC section of the Connections settings applet.

NOTE: My suggestions are based on the original Q; I don't have a Q 9m, so things may be different.

Steve
