If that doesn't work, try changing the settings on both the PC and the Q to Automatic, then to Work Network if it still doesn't work. Play around with them -- it may depend on how your PC is configured, and we don't know your configuration.
Another thing to try is changing the Enable advanced network functionality setting in the USB to PC section of the Connections settings applet.
NOTE: My suggestions are based on the original Q; I don't have a Q 9m, so things may be different.

I have an original Q as well. I figured it out, it was the "Advanced Network Functionality" setting. It was enabled before, and it worked as soon as I disabled it.
