Default Some issues with the Q9M

So I bought a Q9M off Ebay, and had intended on using it with the Wireless provider I am currently with, mainly because well Verizon doesn't exist up here. I admit I didn't do enough research before paying for the phone, but what ever.

I assumed I could, or my phone company, could go into programming and just change some shit and make the phone work on their network. Turns out I was right, except that can't get Data to work (Which would make the Q useless to me because i got it for Data, not for a fancy looking phone) so then I assumed I could get the ROM flashed, well one guy says he won't do it cause he got sued for it, and then says something about it wouldn't work anyways. Now that is kind of where I call BS, because esentially when you flash the rom, you are clearing everything, right? All the towers the phone is looking for, all the services you are re-writing it to the serves/towers I want, or at least that's what I thought.

As it turns out I may not even be able to find out, as my wireless provider had another company due all it's ROM flashing, and now these two companies are rivals instead of allies, and go figure, the other company never gave the ROM file out, they just did it at their own stores.

Basically, I'm wondering if anyone has any sugestions, before I start phoning the two companies trying to get teh file. I was going to try the programming to see if I can at least get the voice to work, but I can't get into programming on my current phone (It's the original silver q) I can get into the ##074663 menu, but all that tells me in the MIN number (which I already knew cause well that's my phone number) and the CDMA SysID which I already changed and the phone don't work.

So yeah, anyone know a way I can get the Data to work with out having to beg people to get the ROM flashed? Or am I pretty much SOL

And yes I did a forum search already, not much help which is why I made this thread!

I just browsed through, and did a bunch of searches there, doesn't seem to be a whole lot of stuff on CDMA phones in general, let alone the Moto Q9M, but I'll keep searching

I doubt you'll find what you need at XDA - they mostly focus on GSM phones (at least for ROMS).

If you can figure out the programming codes, Verizon usually has the "password" or whatever you call it to access the deep programming at just 000000. Then you should be able change the programming to match your provider.

Outside of asking an employee who may happen to be a friend of a friend, how else would one come across this information?

Yeah the programming code was just 000000, but I can't change what I need in there. According to multiple people I have talked to, the phone is locked onto Verizon data towers, and there is no way to get it off, besides a firm ware re-write.

I called a bunch of people, kept telling me it can't be done, so finally after getting some one who actually knows something at Motorola he gave me a couple numbers to the companies that Motorola sends the Q to for repairs. I phoned them up and they said they can reflash the phone to what ever carrier I want. There is no 100% guarentee that I'll be able to get Data with it after words, but it's the best chance I got.

I'll let you all know how it goes when I mail it out. If I end up bricking the phone, well I got another question in another section
