| So like..I -HATE- this phone. So, the other day i had to make a decision. I'd spent two years on a $30 ringy-dink phone as a add-on line to my parents verizon plan, and my own phone, a N-gage QD (Laugh, will you! ;P). Had had no service for over a year. My parents couldn't afford to allow me to leech anymore, so being dragged from my apartment by force to the local verizon store, and about a hour later i walked out with a pretty new Moto QM.
And yea, I hate it.
I was really exicted at first. Full HTML Browser! PIE! Windows mobile 6! A decent looking media player PLUS the windows media player! 315mhz ARM x scale! the onboard memory and flash! Smart phone while even though it wasn't symbian, would mean i could do things like shadow of legend and emulators. Or, so i thought.
The first day i had it i discovered how arcane the settings were. Ever notice how easy it is to find the setting for wi-fi power off, but the settings for wi-fi are like buried, at least on my q. Lots of things on it took ages to find, maybe being a symbian user i'am not used to smart phone-ness, so that may be my fault, and not the phones.
Oh, and it liked to crash and hang up. Couldn't fiqure out why. I'd be doing something like playing pocketnester. CRASH. PIE. CRASH. Restart it, it'd fun fine most of the time, or just a soft reset with the power buttons to get it running. It also didnt like to work with things like pocketnester; reguarly doing things like reloading PN with the keys reset, the landscape settings reset, and so forth. And a few times it mysteriosuly decided to go to black and white mode. Given, PN isn't meant to be a phone feature, so this is personal complaning i suppose. And it wasn't limited to PN. It once decided that SPhelper needed to change it's cursor on and off and on and off over and over. And the volume on phone calls(incomeing) would randomly change from low, to high, to everything in between!
Depsite all these issues, it ran fine most of the time, and i was loveing my mobile wi-fi. Then i went to take it from my pocket at lunch on the third day i had it at work. It wouldn't go past the verizon flash screen. removed the battery, waited about 30 seconds, put it back in. Same deal. Nothing seemed to work. I'd charged it that morning, so i stuck it in my desk drawer and turned it on. It hung on the verizon screen untill the battery drained.
Confused, i drug it home, guessing i'D Have to get up early before work and head to a verizon store. I plugged it into the USB charger to see if the phone would "wake" up if charged and plugged into the pc - the pc chimed on, detected the phone, and the phone displayed the battery meter! Amazed i let it charge a bit then took it off and tryed to turn it back on, now it would flash the verizon screen and power it's self off.
Someone suggested on another phone forum i try the master resets via N+M and phone on, and phone On and the chrome d-pad button, but that's made no difference.
I'd use a older phone for the time being, but i cant transfer anything off the Q since it wont power on.
So...would anyone have any suggestions? |

| Take it back to the Verizon store, sounds like you have a dodgy one there!
Welcome to EQ BTW. If you get your phone sorted you will find a lot of good information here, a lot of people that love their Q and a few who don't!

| Uh I managed to get it working...i removed the battery and plugged it into the wall via the AC charger(Not the USBmini to USB cable to my PC), and the hard reset worked. It seems to be operating fine now. |

| you might try using a wall charger for a few hours with the device turned off. Normaly a USB port can't revive a dead Q. |

| Maybe I should try charging from the wall when my battery is completely dead as opposed to the car charger or the usb cord to the pc.
maybe my battery would cycle better. |

| RETURN THAT DEFECTIVE PHONE INSTANTLY!!!!
I had the same trouble with pocket nester's key's reseting but they finally work now. Just search for pocketnester on here and you'll find tons of good info. But the rest of the things you're described have never happened to me. My Q has never crashed and it is heavily modded and hacked. I would try the new firmware via motorola.com or the verizon store. Also make sure you are using pocket Nester Plus 0.9
If you need any help with your Q there is lots of stuff here. |

| Do a master reset at power on, update via Motorola Software Update, and reinstall and you'll probably be just fine. |

| Um Well Well,
I did get it to do a full reset as i metioned in my last post, and it's been working fine since. Loaded everything from my SD card again.
Only odd thing i had occur was once i had full network coverage, max bars, EV-DO icon, was sending phone calls fine, and it kept telling me i didnt have a network connection to use PIE. Then it loaded google one time and it came me the error again again and again...So i rebooted it, and its worked fine since. That's been the only hick up I've had since resetting it now. |
