SMS cant find contacts

I have a new Moto q. I have synced contacts with outlook that are visible by clicking the contacts icon from the home page, I can call them.

When I go to messaging and create a new SMS and then click menu > add recipicant there are not contacts to choose. Interestingly, if I then click new contact, I can create a contact that will on be visible in the SMS application. If I go back to the main contacts it will not be there.

This is not good...I text message a lot and do not want to replicate all contacts in the SMS application!

Please help if you can!!!!!!

are their numbers listed as "mobile" and not any of the other ones?

I never do it that way. in the "To" section, try typing the first few letters of the persons name. it shhould bring up a drop menu and choose the person there. if your suggest a word is on, you might be set to suggest after 2 or 3 letters. change it to 1 or turn it off.

Wow..thanks for the fast replies....

All contacts in the main contacts app have mobile numbers and other..

When in the new SMS screen if I type a name in the 'to' field no contacts come up, the software just tries to predict a normal word. i.e. I have a few Matt contacts, so I start typing Matt, and the software just predicts the matt, with not contact detail....predictive is set to suggest after 1.

All contacts, in main contacts and SMS contacts have mobile and home numbers.

THe other strange thing is that if I go to the main contacts application, select a contact, then choose Menu > compose SMS, the mobile number is included in the SMS, but not the name. When I sent the SMS and get a reply, the message comes back from 'cell number' i.e. no contact name. SO I dont know who sent it. This contact is in the phone!!!!

that is strange.can't think of a fix for that. try turning of the pred...text. it slows down the phone anyway. mine is off and contacts still work.

Thanks for the suggestion....tried it and it did not work....the phone is a company one and has moto 'good' application installed....I am wondering if it has anything to do with it.....

It might not be checking for contacts from your phone. Is good the program you use to check your .com email or work email?
