Q9m won't sync contacts?

So here's the deal, my original Q9m had a bad antenna, so I traded it in for a new one. Lo and behold, this new one has a different ID and all that, so I can't sync it with my old ones settings. Well I get it done at Verizon, and the next day the phone has the "Won't turn on" bug happen. So I reset it, and install the patch. Now it says I can't sync my contact list without installing Outlook!

WTF IS GOING ON!

All I want is my old settings from my original Q9m on my new Q9m. I didn't think this was going to take a rocket scientist to figure out.

Any help for me?

can't the store do the contacts for you? or no because its a smartphone?

go to file, then connection settings, then uncheck the allow wireless blah blah connections while synced to the desktop option.

It's saying it needs outlook on my desktop? So I have to buy outlook for my PC before I can transfer my contacts?

did you use OUTLOOK, Wireless sync or Active sync to backup/sync your contacts?

Active sync on previous Q9m, and i'm connecting to the phone using activesync. It wont allow me to chekc the boxes to sync the contacts to my pc.

Ok then, If you don't have outlook what were you syncing the contacts (from the previous phone) to?

I never had outlook. I simply checked the box when I had the original phone. On this phone the box for contacts can not be selected.

Then it wasn't actually syncing the contacts anywhere. Active sync merely serves as an intermediary between the phone and your PC. It doesn't store anything other than the partnership settings. You need somewhere for the items being synced to go (In the case of contacts calendar and email it's outlook)
