Default Ok I'm going crazy

For the 3rd tme this month, I have to use the master reset on my phone. The first round I had with the phone, I downloaded a lot of pictures and all that junk. The phone froze so I went ahead and reset the whole thing. Few weeks go by, same thing happens with absolutly zero programs on my phone. Reset it and guess what, 2 weeks later the same thing happens!

I'm sick of loosing my contacts, im sick of loosing my MMS.

I go to copy the pim.vol or whatever and I don't know how to copy it! I then try to sync up with outlook for my contacts and active sync gives me NO option, folder or anything for "contacts!" What the crap?!?!?!?! I'm reading allllll these friggin re-post/frequently repeated threads on how to keep the contacts and all I see it "copy pim. vol or save to outlook" with absolutly zero in depth detail on how exactly to do it.

I'm not a computer wiz... I got the phone as a gift and all I want is the stupid phone to do it's friggin job and it's not doing it.

HOW DO I COPY PIM.VOL?? step by step for the computer stupid. Or how do I do the activesync way STEP>>>BY>>>STEP please.

thanks!

as far as the phone slowing down, are you using the predictive text entry? If so try clearing the input history and turning it off (go to start > settings > text input settings)

no that didnt help.

I just dont know how to find pim.vol on active sync and i dont know how to copy it. I also dont know how to use outlook express. Basically I dont know how to do anything! lol I'm serious.... I know NOTHING about computers and copying things ETC. I'd like a strict "how to" on the process because after searching for hours on how to do this, I found nothing.

hook your phone up to the computer. when the explore lights up on active sync, click it. it will open a folder, click on my device, it should be in there.

the easiest way is if you have a storage card.

Using the file manager on Q (in start menu) scroll down and highlight pim.vol
menu
file
copy to
select storage card as the destination.

before nuking the Q download a copy of total commander or resco explorer to the card. They are both a better version of the default file manager.

after the reset install either of the 2 softwares
run the software
navigate to the storage card
highlight the pim.vol file
then copy it to your device. Do not put it in a folder
Say yes to overwrite
restart device

If you dont have a storage card then the steps are similar.
Move the file to pc (you may need to use the Q's file manager to copy file to a folder..i.e My documents before pc will transfer it)
reset Q
move file from pc to a folder(this is about the only differance)
use one of the two apps mentioned above to move it from the folder to the root(not in a folder) of device
restart device
