the new one may not have the same issue, as mine has it, but its soo quiet that I have to go into a silent room and literally listen for it. its worth a shot if you can get a free replacement. they will send it to you you can active sync it and try it out before you send back your current phone. Another option is to disable the backlight or set it to turn off after like 1 second of inactivity.
