My Q9m Has Gone Insane!

It's been fine up to now but recently I started having some problems. It is a replacement phone, a couple months old, and was working fine until now.

The battery life runs out MUCH faster than before and it looks like the phone is almost constantly connecting to something.

I also very often cannot connect to anything on the web as I get the "data call cannot be placed while voice call is in session" error.

Best as I can tell from checking the memory manager is these problems are caused by the "text messages" task running all the time and even when I kill the task it just pops back a short time later. Even when "text messages" are not running it looks like the phone is connecting to the network all the time.

Wondering what I can do to keep that task from running so much and interfering with other things and what else I can do to preserve battery life and check for running programs I don't need.

I'm out of the office a lot these days and having the phone be down to one bar in the afternoon is not acceptable. When I first got the phone, even with heavy use, I was able to make it through the day... now, not even close.

Also, I've used the phone for internet access via USB/ActiveSync/PDAnet for my laptop in the past but recently I went to plug the phone in and ActiveSync cannot find the phone! The phone does charge when plugged in to the laptop so I think the cable is fine... should I just reinstall ActiveSync or is there something else I can do?

make sure you dont have programs running in the background as that will drain the battery. Are you using Predictive text? that will also slow the phone down. If all else fails you can perform a master reset and see what happens after that. Make sure you save your contacts before you MR or they will be lost.
