While At&t puts out marverlous product after marvelous product their coverage is so poor that many people simply dont have the option to change carriers, myself included. But either Verizon or I am missing something. The US is not getting bigger and Verizon's coverage is close to 100%, meaning the competition will be catching up with them. Its only a matter of when, not if. So if Verizon is now equal with At&t for instance, Im switching. Based on Verizons horrific phone lineup and tendency to cripple thier phones and put crap on them like Vcast and what not, what loyalty do I have?
I guess I rather agree with you. I wish Verizon would just try to put out the best product they can instead of trying to squeeze everything out of it. I do own stock in Verizon, but I don't think that is the same (yet) as VZW.

I put the battery in from my old Q which was all charged up. and I put the new battery in my old cradle to charge. Old battery works perfectly...got the phone up and running in no time.

Oh fantastic, they kept that charging screen that blocks the device from resetting when plugged! /sarcasm

Boy I had really hoped they would have taken care of that

Default Quick thoughts

First off... I am a long time Treo user. Ok, after playing around with my new q9m for most of today, I am going to say, I am utterly and thoroughly impressed with this device. I love it. Makes my Treo 700p looks stale and outdated. WM6 is great. I read cnets review that it was sluggish on the q9m, either they got a pre-production unit, or they dont know wtf sluggish is. It is as fast, if not faster than my treo. Multi-tasking! Finally... not on the treo. I got the home screen all customized the way I want, colors, icons etc... IE loads pages super evdo fast. I did a speed test at dsl reports and got 700-800 kbps on 4 consecutive tests. Sweet. Email is great. One thing that blew me away was the speakers built into this thing, although you cant see them anywhere, they actually sound pretty amazing, bass was exceptional. There is a surround sound option in the sound CP that really amps it up and fills out the sounds. I set it on the table in my kitchen, playing ac/dc back in black and went in the other room and it sounded pretty darn good, even in the other room, as good as any low end cd/radio you can buy... I was surprised. I tried to think if there was anything negative I could say, and I came up with 2 minor gripes. (1) I havent seen where you can view sms and texts in threads, or change that option. Messages are kept in folders you have to open to view. Threads would be nice. (2) I havent seen where you can turn off the evdo radio after you close IE or email etc... I had to turn off the cell radio and back on, then the evdo would stay off until called for again... There may be options for these 2 things that I havent found yet... we'll see. So, anyway. On a scale of 1-10, my new Moto Q9M gets a resounding 10 from me... Glad I traded UP from my Treo

Please. That "controlled UI" is just the Home screen, I suspect -- and you can change that! If Verizon tried to put their dumb phone UI on a Windows Mobile phone, they'd get very few sales.

I don't know what Verizon thought about the upgrade, but your comment about GetItNow (GIN, not GET) is just wrong. You can already download the VZAppZone for free. I assume that's standard on the Q 9m (right, Cheddar?).

We know that you don't like Verizon and/or the Q 9m, but don't let your bias cloud the facts.
