Default MMS in Task manager?

Sorry, i don't know if this has been covered, but I'm noticing MMS in my task manager, without me receiving or sending text or MMS messages, anyone else having this, and can explain?

i have a Q1, and not the MMS but text messages show up running without using it, likely MMS was the last messaging you used. i wouldn't worry about it running, if it makes you feel better go ahead & kill the task.

Thanks, but I just don't get it. I haven't sent or received any text messages on this phone at all! I'm wondering if something else triggers it, like a missed call or something. It doesn't appear to sucking up resources, but since I'm trying to make sure my battery lasts longer that the poor performance I've gotten out of it, I want to try and rule out these oddities.

I feel the same way about this as I do about those stupid quicktime and adobe updaters that show up in my notification area from time to time. :p

it shows even if you just open the folder to "look" at it...I don't know if you've done that. but it does show up in my task manager if I just open up my mms window for [fun] no reason.

Nope, not even looking at it! I'm wondering if it has to do with my homescreen displaying current sms status (among other things like VM, email, sms)

no it does not have to with that.. we had a user a while ago who had so much free time that he even timed it and he concluded that it came up exactly 10 minutes after he killed the task...

Default It's The Messaging Program

It's the Messaging program. The Task Manager will display whatever is (or was) in the Messaging program's title bar, so you can see a lot of different things (Text Messages, an E-mail account, "Disconnecting", etc.).

anybody figured out why it launches the app over and over again? The weird thing is, you can't switch into it, all you can do is kill it...

not sure.. and correct you can't visibly switch into it as you call it but when you open Messaging it does use that instance you see.

Default Task Manager Woes

Exactly. The one worry I'd have is if I didn't have an unlimited data plan, I might be running up data charges.

However, for many people, I think looking in the Task Manager causes more worries than it solves (like the pMSNServer debate). Microsoft likely designed the system to work this way, so unless you're actually seeing problems, my advice is to leave things alone.
