Default media player sound

Why do files played through the windows media player sound very soft when played through the speaker? Is there a way to fix or adjust this? Thanks.

Try pushing the wheel on the side. that controls the master volume

Yes, awingsFan is correct. Push in and hold the Scroll Wheel, and when "Ear Piece Volume" shows up, crank the volume up.

Even with the volume setting at maximum it is still softer than a call on the speaker phone or even the same song playing as my alarm. Is this normal?

Could also be WMP's internal volume if it's still quieter with the master all the way up.

Dumb Question but sometimes the simple answer is overlooked. There is a seperate volume control in Media Player, in the bottom right corner of the Player Screen. IT reads in Percent. Is that set at 100%?

The usual answer to this question is 99 out of 100 times, being "Ear Piece Volume" needs to be turned up.

If the Media Player volume is at 100% and the Ear Piece Volume is cranked, the other spot to check is what "Profile" you have it set to.

I have the media player volume set to 100% and I have tried all the profiles. Still the volume is very low. Any other ideas?

And you already did the 'hold down the right scroll wheel, until the earpiece volume shows up' as instructed??

Yes I did. And I have to set that volume to the maximum just to get decent volume. It is much softer than a call through my speaker phone or even the same song played as an alarm. What do you think? Is this normal?

It's possible that if the mp3 were created with a low signal level (volume), the playback could be a lower volume than the alarm. I get the feeling that files are amplified when used for alarms
