Default Media Player dosen't recognize SD Card

I just got my Q yesterday. I seem to have a problem with Windows Media Player recognizing my 1GB micro SD card when I try to sync some mp3's. MP sees the base memory but not the expansion card. The card was used in another mp3 player without any problems. I have tried formating it on the Q and the format seems to go OK. Am I missing a setting or something here?

I'm a Q newb as well (<1 month). I could be wrong but I don't think WMP will sync to the sd card when using the Q. I tried but with no luck and just plug my Q in through USB and drop my music onto the storage card.

It would be nice if someone has a solution to this though as it makes sending videos to the phone easier (since it converts them automatically).

So it basically is just used like a usb drive. I will give that a shot & see what happens. Thanks again.

are you using a flash drive or Active Sync when you plug in your memory card to your computer?

I was trying to use Windows Media Player. The media player sees the Q, but only the main memory. It doesn't see the expansion memory when it is installed in the Q. I use Active Sync for pretty much everything except mp3's. I hope this answers your question.

Default Music in the cards...

I have been using my Q for an mp3 player since I got it. I point media player to the Q, the Q sends it to my SDcard. It works very nice.
.... until you try to move or replace the SDcard.

BTW, The S9 headphones are the best thing since sliced bread if you listen to music on the Q.

I noticed an optional update on Windows Update today (Vista 64 bit) that allows WMP11 to sync directly to the card. Opened up WMP11 and it defaulted to my card. Haven't actually tried syncing anything yet but glad I can now!

Here are the details:

Update for Windows Media Player 11 for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB931621)

Installation date: ‎4/‎11/‎2008 10:11 AM

Installation status: Successful

Update type: Recommended

Install this update to enable access to external storage cards on new Windows Mobile 5 devices using Windows Media Player 11. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

Another option to all this is to get TCPMP. That's what I've been using to listen to all my MP3s. Far more settings controls, especially the eQualizer , allows for custom sound and pre-amp boost.
