Default Keyboard Backlight Problem

I just got this new Q 9m about a week ago. It's my first smartphone, so of course right out of the box I wanted try try out every new app I could get my hands on. Unfortunately however, one of them seems to have killed my keyboard's backlight. Everything was fine until this morning when I installed the Orange.dll and a new homescreen. All of my contacts, Calendar etc. was delteted and the Q prompted me to do a sync, which I did. I uninstalled the orange, and the homescreen, did the sync which gave me back my info, then restarted. Now for some reason the backlight on the keyboard no longer comes on, and the buttons are acting funny..Sometimes my Start button will pull up my contacts, and the back button doesn't seem to function all the time..Any Ideas?

try to do a master reset
(this will force the device back to factory settings and wipe the entire phone clean of anything you have put on it) but it might clear up whatever it is that you might have put on it or perhaps the device just got screwy and this will make it start over

Lightbulb

Ok. Sounds good enough. Now how exactly do I do a master reset? I assume thats not taking out the battery since I've already done that.

BTW - Thanks for coping with my n00b-ness..lol

no taking out the battery is not a master reset
a master reset erases the entire phone...so make sure you have copies of program files and contacts and what not so you can put it back on

i believe a member 'pyrobling' said you can do it just like the original q
turn the phone off and back on but when you turn it on hold down the center silver button

Also, if you go to Start -> System Tools there is an option for Master Reset.

Great guys, thanks so much for all your help. I'll give that a try when I get home later. I think I may have found a solution as well. I notice the 9m has a light sensor next to the screen, does this prevent the backlight (keyboard)from coming on if you're in a bright room, thus preserving battery power? I've been in a well lit area all day, so I believe this may contribute to my problem.

Default disable...

you can disable the sensor.
I'm happy with battery life, and had a few instances where the keyboad light went out in the dark. I found it annoying and disabled it.
