just got my q9m and have some dire questions!

i installed IM+, an application that allows me to use AOL on my phone. will i be charged for data usage each time i use it (i'm on a "pay as you go" plan)? how does that work?

also, when there are two arrows pointing in opposite directions near my battery indicator, what does that mean? nothing in the manual could tell me.

yes you will be charged for data

this means that you are ready to send/receive data
the PDA icon means you are using data services
