Help!!

Okay so i wanted my first post to be a little less urgent than this but i need some help.

Well i bought my Moto Q9M through Verizon Wireless in February. I do not have the data package or whatever so i dont use the synced email or the internet and all those things.

When i first bought my Q i synced it to my computer to put music on. Loaded Activesync. Plugged in the phone. Loaded music. End of story.

Well now yesterday i decided i want to change some of the songs on my phone so i plug it in and Activesync isnt recognizing my phone. So then i proceeded to completely take Activesync off my computer, thinking that just reloading it would work.

So now i get home from school and i go to load Activesync again and it gets to the very end of the installation then says that i need to set Microsoft Outlook as my default email client or whatever.

First off i dont know how to make Microsoft Outlook my default.
Second why is it asking me to do that now? i didnt have to do that the first time.
Third why does it need Microsoft Outlook to Sync a phone that wont even be using the Email/internet.

By the way, I am running Windows XP on my PC. Also i just remembered that someone had a somewhat similar problem not too long ago and they were asked if they had set the Email to sync with Outlook. I have not done that.

Please help out the new guy!

if for some reason you checked calendar and contacts in active sync then it will ask you for outlook

if you dont want to do that when you plug it in and the setup screen comes up just hit cancel...you dont have to setup a partnership at all
just hit cancel and it will still be connected and you can still browse the phone and it will still charge you just wont be able to sync any items...but it sounds like you dont do that anyways

i do this at work so i can access my phone and dont have to worry about syncing anything

when you say i might have chosen to sync my calendar and stuff, do you mean on the phone? cause i dont think i selected or even saw anything where i could choose what i wanted to sync on my PC when i loaded Activesync

no on the PC

when you hook up your phone to the PC the setup screen pops up to connect your device right?
just hit cancel when that comes up and you should be fine...

unless your saying your having trouble actually installing the software

yeah i want to use activesync so i can put more music on my phone and like change the home screen and all that. i just dont want to use the email and instant messaging type programs.

that didnt answer my question to you though
where is it giving you this message?
when you install the program? or when you plug your phone in and go through the setup screen?

lol sorry. when i try to install activesync. it tells me to set outlook as my default. so then i clicked okay on that and it proceeded with the installation of activesync. i clicked done on that and my instructions for my phone say to close out of the installer then plug in the phone and activesync is supposed to come up. well i plugged it in and nothing happens.

I think i figured it out!

I had all the things (calendar, contacts, etc.) selected. Unselected all.

Guess what?!?!
