EVDO to 1x

Hello guys,
Recent Q 9m buyer. Been reading up on the helpful tips on this forum.... I've tried to read all the help threads but I'm still confused...

I'm having battery issues and i'm looking to switch from EVDO to 1x. I get to the Field test Menu and I put in the zeros. (ie, dialing ##073887* and then putting in the zeros). After that, I'm lost. (Go to test mode?). No idea which menu to go to and what to do... any thoughts? And thanks for everyone's help.

I followed these instructions exactly and have been running in 1x for about a month or so.

Thank you very much... looked through 35 pages and must have missed this one. But now I can't get picture messages unless i switch back?

Hmmmmm, that's a good question. I have a complete data block on my account, so I know I can't get picture messages (I just few them by logging into the website).

As I understand it, picture messaging on Verizon Smartphones uses data. You can still send and receive data on a 1x connection (it's just slower than EVDO). So, through logic I'd think you'd still be able to receive picture messages. Of course all of this falls apart when you realize logic holds no place in the real world.

Short answer: I don't know.

Does anyone know the speed comparisons between evdo and 1x? Also, is it as easy to obtain 1x coverage as it is evdo?
