Email problem..need help

Why is it when I reply to an email that is part of a lenghty email chain it does not get sent? Not only that, no other emails get sent either. The entire outbox does not get sent until I delete that email. Very annoying especially if I do not notice it never was sent all subsequent emails are therefore not sent. Are there any fixes? I use GMail

I have it progammed to automatically trigger send/recieve when sending an email. Even still, when I hit send recieve again, with that lenghty message in the out box, it does not get sent..as well as any other messsages that are in the out box. I have isolated this problem to be happening only with lenghty emails.
