Default Email Deleting

I've encountered a problem with my email. After reading my email I delete it and it goes into the 'Deleted' folder. From there it is being automatically deleted. Can anyone tell me why and how I can stop it?

I don't think you can; that's the way the Smartphone OS works. E-mail gets deleted every time a Send/Receive is done.

On the Pocket PC, you can select when the Deleted Items folder gets emptied (Manually, every connection, or immediately when you delete the E-mail), but I haven't found a way to use that on the Smartphone OS.

So there is no way to KEEP an email on my phone? Really? That's strange.

Is there anyway for me to leave the mail on the server so that I can get it on my laptop?

You don't seem to believe me, given that you're asking the same question two more times, so keep looking for a way to do it. If you find one, I'm sure lots of people will thank you.

I think I tried using the same registry keys from my Pocket PC on the Q, but they didn't work.

Yes. Don't delete the E-mail or don't do a Send/Receive after you delete it. That's probably not what you had in mind, but it's the only way I know of to keep your E-mail on the server.

On the Pocket PC, there's also another way to do it. You can create extra mail folders (I create a Saved folder) and move E-mail to those folders. Unfortunately, you can't create new folders on the Smartphone, so that won't work, either.

Default server

Under email settings - advanced settings, there is a check box to keep your emails on your server. Check that and your good to go no? Seems to be working fine for me.

Is that on the Q 9m (as opposed to Outlook like Scott suggested)? If so, that must be a new option in Windows Mobile 6. (Yet another good reason to get this "cosmetic" upgrade.)

Go to your email provider's website, and once in your account you should have the option to adjust your POP3 settings (such as keeping emails on the server). Every email provider is different, GMAIL defaults to remove it once read where as Yahoo Small Business accounts do not.

If you don't want to lose emails that you have read and sent to the delete folder, then don't send them to the delete folder.
