for the past 4 years as a user of windows mobile devices i primarily used them as a multimedia device for vids, movies and music, i loved using TCPMP rather than the native media player, i also found that converting to avi/divx prduces a much clearer output than wmv files, i use PocketDivX encoder for the full user control it offers for conversion and compressions for advance users and a more user friendly feel for new users:

for near DVD quality movies videos compressed/converted for play on TCPMP on our Moto Q/Q9ms i found that the standard compression specs i used to used on my old Pocket Pc works well with our beloved new toys:
1) upon opening choose the PPC/PDA icon so that the standard specs are for pocket pcs(will be at a standard 320x240 depending on the height of the original video)
2) open the file u wana compress
3) max the video level to 20* wich is usually 360kbps for video
4) max audio quality to 6(but click the menu arrow at the side and adjust the KBPS from 96 to 128 for cd quality audio)
5) adjust brightness, sound(volume), saturation and contrast to your liking
6) adjust resolution to your liking
7) cut video to your specifications
8) preview the clip and adjust accordingly
9) encode and adjust CPU use priority normal, high and highest(pc slowdown will be felt)
*if u wish to increase video kbps/quality change from PPC standards to PC or to which predetermined settings available, remember increasing KBPS increases file size, these specs are what i have found optimal and space saving, a 700mb full length movie can be cut down to less than 350mb with only the screen size shrinking will be noticeable
