Default Does anybody else do this.......

I have my emails forwarded to my cell phone number as a text. That way I get to see the first 160 characters of the email. I therefore know the sender and the subject matter. The emails are forwarded as soon as they are recieved. Then if I want to read the email I go and retrieve it manually through the send/revieve function on my email application. It saves on battery drain since I do not have the email set up on automatic retrieval intervals. In effect it is kind of like push email but I only retrieve the email if I want to read it or respond to it.

Does anyone else do that? Thanks.

i did this for a brief period... here's why i stopped doing it, most of the 160 character was "wasted" on the header of the email and bottom-line was that i saw little if anything of the email :}

I understand. But as long as I can see at least the first part of the email I at least know that I got one and I can tell by the limited subject matter more or less what the email was about. So do you sync automatically now? How often? Does it drain the battery?

I have two email accounts being checked every 5 minutes (and I'm running the threshold version of the processor hack), and I still have great battery life. The extended battery on the Q9c helps, I'm sure. As for your email issue, you should definitely take advantage of junk mail filters to the extent you can. I keep both of my email accounts very clean so that only important stuff comes through, and no junk does. If I ever get any, I take the time to unsubscribe or just block it. Don't want to have to check a new email every five minutes if it's just alot of junk. I guess it's a matter of need. I need to be connected to work email. If your Q is only checking personal email, then maybe it's not so important to be able to read each and every email coming in . . .

with the big headers i most often did not see the subject so it was pretty useless... now i use the email account that has some importance as pop on my pc and as imap on my Q... checks every 2 hours.
