| Disappearing Storage I've had a Q9m for just under a month now and I've been good about clearing out the pIE cache, SMS's, emails, and the like along with installing apps on the 4GB SD card. However, I still get messages saying my storage is very low, even after a day of doing nothing but making/receiving calls (since my Exchange sync no longer works). It seems like it's disappearing slowly (like a memory leak) but I'm not doing anything with the phone. I've installed oxios memory and SKTools Lite and that freed up 2 megs, but I'm down to only 3MB free and I only have a few (4) pictures, 2 programs (google maps and Sprite backup), and a few ringtones that add up to about 2MB.
Is there anyone else that's had these issues? I've seen similar posts, but most say just to install one of the programs I've tried and all will be well. I'm considering a Master Reset, but I'm still not comfortable doing it unless I know what is causing the problem in the first place. |

| google maps keeps a cache stored on the device
sprite backup will save to your phone unless you have a SD card so that could be it
any MMS or outgoing emails with attachments take up space |

| I don't use Google Maps that often, certainly not in the last week. Sprite Backup isn't configured for scheduled backups and even so it's set to save to the storage card.
Hmmm... |

| If it is a memory leak, the ram is freed when you soft reset (power off and back on) the phone.
Have you checked all your mailbox folders such as inbox, drafts, outbox, sent items, deleted items. Do you get huge emails.
If you download things from the net, do you download to device or to the SD card. Things like cabs downloaded do not automatically delete once you have installed. So, if you download to device the cabs may still be there.
Other than that, you would neeed to use a file manager. But, you need to understand what files belong where to determine what is out of place.

| Yeah, it's not a memory leak, but a storage leak. Since yesterday I went from 3MB to .89MB free and I haven't done a damn thing. Still can't connect to Exchange and only made/received 4 calls, no txt.
I've deleted my exchange account several times, so I don't have anything in the folders, I don't know where the data is kept. I have deleted all the cabs immediately after installing any programs (they are installed from the SD card, anyway)
I have Resco Explorer and I've been through every directory on the phone and can't find anything that looks amiss.
I'm probably going to do a hard reset and hope for the best. Keep the thoughts coming! |

| you can use sprite backup to figure this out. just backup, hard reset and do a full restore. if that doesn't return the space, hard reset again and then play with the selective restore until you have figured out what took the space. even if you mess up you can do a full restore and start over. |

| Well, I did the hard reset and everything is back to normal. I think something got screwed up when I updated my work computer to Office 2007 (I never should have installed Business Contact Manager). I'm pretty sure BCM or MS-SQL was the culprit as I have Office 2007 on my home PC and syncing with it caused no problems.
Thanks for all the help. |
