Deleting Rock On WMV - Motorola Q Forum

I get error:

Cannot delete file:Access is denied

Make sure your device has sufficient memory, that the file is not set as read only, and you have permission to copy this file.

I know it has the memory, not running anything other than factory programs and what not.

It is not set to read only...

I'm not trying to copy it.....

Don't think u can get around it as that file is part of ROM. without mrailing I don't think we can get rid of it. I tried that and the wireless sync client and got the same error message.

If you played it before you tried to delete it, either play another file or kill WMP. If a program is accessing the file the phone will not be able to delete it.

I never played the song and still couldn't delete it. As for killing WMP, I only allow 4 programs to run using the built in task mgr and wmp isn't part of it.

Yeah, tried all the various methods of removing but no go..... suppose I'll have to overlook it being there.....

there is a way to delete it...damn I forgot how. Something about viewing a webpage first, the page is somewhere on your phone...I believe you can just delete it using Resco explorer

late to the party but I deleted it tonight using total commander.

It's a protected file, but it's not in ROM. You can delete it, but you must disable security first. Unless you really need the space, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Plus you can cause a problem if you need to restore the phone from a backup, because the default load on the phone includes it and the restore won't fit with it there.

I tried to restore from a backup that had the file after I deleted it. No problems.
I restored from a backup that had neither....no problems.
To be safe I left it on.
