Changing default email program to AOL

I set up AOL as my email server and I was able to see how many emails I had on the home screen (i.e. Email (4)). I did an activesync a couple of days ago and now my emails are still being retrieved automatically but it no longer tells me how many and now Outlook opens as the default program. I deleted and reinstalled AOL but it didn't change. What happened and how do I change this? I'm tired of going through numerous screens (menu, menu, tools, switch accounts, then scroll to AOL) to read my emails. How do I make AOL my default email server again?
