You can call and have a data block put on your account. The CR will find this strange since you have a smartphone, but they'll do it for you.

It should not, as you are blocking data through Verizon's data network, not all data on the device.

You can turn off and on your data plan by going to Verizions web site. It's under:

My Phone > Add/Remove Features > Multimedia

Or the direct link is:

https://ebillpay.verizonwireless.com/vzw/accountholder/account/maint-features.do

You can disable/enable V CAST Music, Mobile Web, Application Downloads, and V CAST Video Clips without having to contact customer support.

Also this does not disable MMS/texting. I haven't tested wifi yet as my card just came in today but I'll update later tonight.

If you put a Data Block on your account you will be unable to receive MMS since on a smartphone MMS is considered data, unlike regular phones, but you will still be able use WiFi. The Data Block isn't anything specific to your device, it's specific to your account. WiFi wouldn't be using anything related to your Verizon account for access, so therefore it'd be fine.

BigSamson, the type of Data Block I'm talking about isn't for any specific application. It completely blocks all in/out non-text message and non-phone call data through Verizon's system.

Thanks Rudy! I'm still waiting for the fourth wave my friend.

UPDATE: The wifi will work with the data block.
