Not bothering. Just gave you the concise version. I offered to make stickies out of common questions, manuals, guides, hell, I'll even throw in screenshots, whatever, but the mods never took me up on my offer. They probably WANT you to search for hours, clicking on page after page

FWIW, searching "GPS" here is useless, the terms must be at least four letters.

Now for my issue with Google Maps, I'm always getting "your handset doesn't seem to be compatible with My Location (beta) feature" when I use the My Location feature.

Well, thats because you're talking about the "My Location" feature, which is NOT gps, but uses cell tower triangulation to approximate your location. That feature is not compatible with your phone. To use GPS, you need to check option #5, "Use GPS"....

Nifty little name for it eh ????

Well that's odd, it worked on the Q9h that was stolen from me.

Anywho, are there any free alternatives with such a feature?

No, what worked for you was when you turned on the GPS, and hit my location, option 0, it used to center you. When they introduced "My Location", it kinda mixed things up for a lot of people. I can assure you though that it does not work on the Q9h. The Windows API for the GPS isn't available to Google for some dumb reason or another. So thats whats going on. Its documented here, and on Google's help forums. Trust me, I've TRIED to get it to work, but I couldn't. Do a search for "GPS not true GPS", and you'll find more than you wanted to know on the subject. Thats also my most shameful post, I didn't do enough experimenting, so take the first post with grains and grains of salt.

I can tell you that with my old Q9h, it did work, it tracked my exact location. With my new Q9h it doesn't work. Was there some update that rendered it useless or something?
