Default Two questions about the Q's keyboard (Backspace and Shift)

I am currently considering the Moto Q 9h from AT&T and have two questions related to the keyboard. Yes, I know it's really nice and all, but...
(a) How do you do Backspace when typing? Does the Back button to the right of the directional pad become a Backspace when in an editable text box?
(b) This question is directed to those who came from another QWERTY device. How do you deal with having only one Shift button and only on the right side? Most people press Shift with the left hand and then the second key with the right hand.
These 2 may be the deciding factors for me at this point. The BlackJack II is my other choice.
Thanks in advance for your UNBIASED feedback. Ha!

Thank you. I may drop by the AT&T store after work today or tomorrow and get the Q 9h and give it a try. I wonder if they will allow me to pay $50-100 more and get a 1-year contract instead of 2, but I highly doubt it. I always have 30 days to return it if I don't like it. I might try the BlackJack II in that case.

Well, the BlackJack II has a slower processor and, although early reviews conclude it doesn't feel faster than the new Q, I wonder if this would hold true when keeping several heavy applications open, which is what I plan on doing. Since I need push e-mail and don't have (or want) either an Exchange or BlackBerry server account, I will be using and have FlexMail open all the time, plus I will most likely have Opera and other applications open and will be switching back and forth. This is when I feel the Q will take the edge. Plus I kind of like the way the Q looks better than the BJ (which I couldn't say about the original Q vs. the original BJ). Plus its keyboard is larger, which doesn't bother me (my current phone is a Nokia E61i and before that it was an E61). All this points to the Q, which is why I was hoping these 2 factors I mentioned above didn't bug me.

What is flexmail?

I'm tring to figure out what to get... either the BJII or the Q. Decisions, decisions. Does anyone else know of any pros/cons to help make a decision?

I got the Q today. It's 5:15 AM and I still have not gone to bed playing with it. I love it.

I think you will find that it will not take long to adjust to one shift key and it being on the right side. the only other big issue i think you will have going from the e61i to q is the sync software. nokia's software is absolutely amazing. even better than palm desktop. my first smartphone was an e62. but i had to ditch it because my novell intellisync software didn't cooperate with the s60 os. that is when i picked up a blackjack. and boy was i disappointed when activesync required an exchange server to sync with. it is too bad the e61i isn't compatible with the 3g hsdpa network in the USA, otherwise i would have suggested you keep that phone. camera, wifi, and s60 plus the nokia software makes up for a prettier looking os and a little faster processor.

I love Series 60, I love Nokias and I love my E61 and E61i (as well as my 3 other Series 60 Nokias ). The only reason I considered Windows Mobile again (Smartphone Edition only this time around, since I don't like touchscreens or styluses: 2 hands needed) is because I need a robust mail client that supports IMAP IDLE on several accounts simultaneously. The native client on Series 60 3rd Edition devices does support IDLE (unlike any WM phone). However, not only does it have a limit of 2 accounts "idling" at the same time, but the interface also isn't the best, since you can't hit "Send" and keep reading e-mails. The phone starts sending the message right there and you have to wait for it to finish before being able to go back to the list of messages. Plus for any account where you're using IDLE, you cannot automatically download the message body, just the header. So you need to click on each message to download its text, which also takes a bit. All this plus the infamous disconnect problems, which, luckily, seem to have been fixed by the just-released firmware v2.

FlexMail is the only e-mail client I have found that has everything I need and, unfortunately, it's only available for Windows Mobile (both Smartphone and Pocket PC).

So that's why I'm here.

well good luck finding what you need in a phone. the q should be able to meet your needs. it is a shame that the Nokia sync software won't work with the q.

thanks for the link. I'm still trying to figure out how i can use it. You see, our exchange server is behind our firewall and needs to be seperated to our DMZ. In the meantime, I have no way of accessing it remotely except to VPN into our network and go from there. I prefer not to do that and am trying to find some options.

Anyway, sounds like you like the Q. I prefer the Q too as I had the original one from Verizon. I'm only looking at the BJII because its smaller than the Q. Other than that, I don't know much differences.
